Everyone has seen Shrek the movie. Have you seen Shrek the Musical though? The drama department is putting on a production of Shrek the Musical this spring. Shrek is full of great opportunities to break out your shell and try something new.
Mrs. Burns says “If you are worried about singing or dancing in front of others—this is a GREAT show to start with. It is a large cast, and there are lots of opportunities to be in the chorus. If you just want to be a puppeteer, you can do that as well. And, we are going to have lots of folks that help with crew as well. All you have to do is TRY! Come to the auditions prepared and do your best. When you are singing—you will be in the auditorium with just Mrs. Burns and the Stage Manager. Also when you are learning an easy dance for the audition, you will be in groups of 5 to 10 people.”
Auditions are December 15 and 16 from 3:00-6:00. Sign- up sheets are posted on Mrs. Burns’ door.

Mrs. Burns’ third block Creative Writing class recently went on a field trip to the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. While there the students toured the museum, and also learned about the origins of country music.
Prior to the trip each student was instructed to compose the lyrics to an original song that they wrote. Every student’s song was sent to a song writer at the Hall of Fame. The song writer picked five of the songs, and put them to music. The following students had their songs chosen to be performed: Justin Berryhill, Garrett Johnson, Taylor Pray, Ally Riopelle, and Katherine Ross. Ally’s song was also chosen to be on permanent display in the Words and Music section of the Hall of Fame.
